Catherine Wagley, writing for the L.A. Weekly, interviewed Stephen Seemayer about his work on view now in the “In Your Face: How Artists Transformed L.A.’s Urban Landscape” exhibit at Angel City Brewery.

In eight photocollages made in collaboration with Seemayer’s wife and filmmaking partner, Pamela Wilson, Seemayer used stills from his documentary “Young Turks” to show the transient nature of downtown, “providing vintage views,” writes Wagley, “of haunts like the original Hard Rock Café, a dive bar Peter Morton had to buy out before starting his now-famous chain. ‘It was the kind of bar you could lose your life in,’ Seemayer remembers.”
